a choreographed performance through gesture to music; Emma Haugh for RGKSKSRG (2013)

Emma Haugh is a visual artist engaged in an exploration of queer aesthetics from political, personal, and poetic perspectives. Drawing on a background in theatre facilitation, club promotion, dj-ing and photographic practice, Emma combines skills in a multi-layered approach. Recent work incorporates the production of objects (texts, photographs, sculpture, sound) with a generative practice of engagement and performance.

Based between Amsterdam and Dublin, RGKSKSRG is the paired curatorial practice of Rachael Gilbourne and Kate Strain. Their core activities include the commissioning, presenting and contextualizing of contemporary art; each are viewed as sites for channelling visceral aesthetic experience and systematic disjuncture. RGKSKSRG, as a joint practice, acts as a means through which to embrace conflicting ideologies, heighten agency, and cultivate a combined identity.
